On the way home from a visit to McHenry, MD, we decided to try to find the trail to Blackwater Falls that Adam suggested. It was freezing cold, but the trail to the falls was short and easy to travel. (The "hike" is more like a wooden deck path.)
The park was beautiful, clean and there was no entrance fee. There is a cute little gift shop where you can pick up all kinds of souvenirs with the state park logo, sweatshirts, toys, books, and maps. Don't expect to find hiking or camping gear though. We didn't see any kind of convenience store nearby, so plan ahead and bring whatever you'll need for your visit. The trails are well marked, and there are many of them to chose from for all levels of hiking ability. We only had time to venture down one of the the wooden trails to see the Blackwater Falls, but we'll definitely be returning to explore more of this park.
